For next week, read chapters 1, 19, and 21 of Holbrook Jackson's The Eighteen-Nineties (1914). Even though this landmark study is nearly a century old, it remains one of the best overviews of biblio-culture at the end of the Victorian era. Chapter 1 is mostly background. Both Chapter 19, "The Revival of Printing" and Chapter 21, "In Black and White" focus directly on the printing and illustration of books.
If you're feeling curious, you might take a look at Jackson's incredible compendium of book-lore. First published in two fully-indexed volumes The Anatomy of Bibliomania is a tribute to itself.
