GPO, APHA, CCA&D Broadsides!

What a wonderfully successful day in the studio! We were positively humming with non-curricular work all afternoon. The wood type itself is gorgeous, and how fortunate are we to get to use it whenever we please? Many people have worked over the past year to make this happen: Ray Nichols, Mike Denker, and Chris Manson among others. But one person stands above in his work and dedication: George Barnum of the GPO. All of us at the Corcoran are looking forward to George's talk in the Auditorium on Wednesday, November 30 (7 pm). Below are images of the three broadsides designed and printed by our students. The first is an excerpt from Beatrice Warde and the second from Frederic Goudy. Both original texts are featured on plaques in the entryway of the main entrance to the GPO, which makes our broadsides entirely fitting of the occasion.
