Professor Kathleen Walkup!
We have a wonderful class planned for Thursday. The first half will be a vigorous discussion of 19th century print culture. What questions did you find most compelling in the readings? What was missing or what would you have liked to learn more about? Come prepared with questions and notes.
The second half of the seminar will begin promptly at 4:30 with a screening of Kathy Walkup's lecture, Printing at the Margins: An Ink-Stained History of Women and Work delivered in 2011 at the San Francisco Public Library. Following the video-lecture, we have the extraordinary opportunity to ask Professor Walkup questions and discuss related issues via Skype. It will be 5:30 in DC and 2:30 in California when we make the connection.
Writing an adequate biblio-biography of Kathy Walkup and her work and influence in book arts and book arts education would take a short forever. Her awards and accomplishments go on and on. Please read this great short essay of hers: Why Book Arts Matter.
