Because so many students have had trouble getting a copy of Leslie Howsam's "Old Books & New Histories," I've decided to amend the reading for next week's class. On the drop.io site (click on the CBH logo to the right) I've uploaded essays from Howsam, Darnton, and McKenzie. Please read these for class on Wednesday. For the short (ungraded) writing response, I'd like you to choose an excerpt from one of the three essays, copy it verbatim on the top of the page (it might be a single sentence or an entire paragraph), and underneath it write a brief response, just a paragraph or two. What made you choose this excerpt? Agree, disagree, why? Why do you find it interesting/controversial/enlightening, etc?
