End of the Semester News and Notes

Tomorrow afternoon marks our fifteenth and final seminar meeting for G2G. This semester, more than most, I'm keenly aware of the introductory nature of this class. Rather than settle your ideas about book and print culture, this course should spur you on to new questions and new ways to approach these questions. The field, ill-defined and diffuse as it is, will continue for the foreseeable future to be of vital importance for better understanding our changing cultures and societies. The reading and research is nearly endless; I hope you can find your way to the best of it.

We'll have the final presentations, of course, tomorrow. Everybody please arrive on time and presenters remember to convert your PowerPoint files to a pdf folder and load them on the desktop first thing. We also need to fill out course evaluations. If there is time left we'll get to to a quick discussion of Umberto Eco's afterword in "The Future of the Book."   -- Casey

PS: Your final essay is due no later than Friday, December 17, 5 pm. Write to me if you have questions.
